A ski resort in Orlando?
You gotta look twice at this one
It might seem a bit strange putting on your bathing suit to go skiing but you'll soon
get used to it.
Ranked number 2 in the U.S Blizzard Beach is a water park like no other.
The 66-acre Blizzard Beach water adventure park located in Florida's Walt Disney World Resort is strictly tropical but will astound you with it's icy theme.
As legend has it, Blizzard Beach was created by a freak winter storm which dropped snow over the western side of the Walt Disney World property and Florida's first snow-ski resort was planned immediately.
However, the plan was short-lived. Temperatures soared and the ice and snow rapidly began to melt. Dismayed ski-resort operators, ready to close, spotted a playful alligator sliding down the "liquid ice" slopes and realized the melting snow created the tallest, fastest and most exhilarating water-filled ski and toboggan runs in the world.Welcome to Blizzard Beach.
You can experience rides like Teamboat Spring's -The world's longest family white water ride. There's Downhill Double Dipper a side by side racing water slide that's 200 feet long and 50 feet high. You'll find other great water rides like Runoff Rapids and Toboggan Racer plus many more.To relax you could try Cross Country Creek where you'll be carried away allong an icy lazy river style creek which surrounds the entire park.
In total 'Blizzard Beach' has 17 waterslides plus a mixture of
water rides and one mighty big wave pool.
