Adventure Island Tampa

If you've visited Busch Garden's in Tampa before then you'll probably have noticed the rather attractive water park opposite it. This is of course 'Adventure Island', also known as 'Busch Garden's Water park'.

The park is based on and themed around the Florida Key's so every part of the park has a real feeling of relaxation.

As the park was created by the owner's of Busch Garden's and Sea world you'll know that your in for a quality day out.

Visitor's to Adventure Island have the option to go for thrill's or just relax.

You can simply chill out by grabbing your rubber inflatable ring, lie back and just drift away down Rambling Bayou - a half a mile lazy river adventure through a tree lined rain forest styled setting.

Keeping with the relaxation theme you could try the Endless Surf attraction which is a 17,000 square foot wave pool where you can simply splash about a bit or try a bit of surfing.

For the thrill seeker's out there there's the Riptide Mat Slide. This one's great for group's as up to four people can race against each other down four very fast slippery lane's.

Great fun can be had on Aruba Tuba - a fast twisting flume ride or you can try the open flume ride known as Calypso Coaster where the end of the ride see's you joining The Rambling Bayou River just in time to catch your breath.

Other highlight's of the park include

  • Caribbean Corkscrew - A translucent twisting flume ride
  • Everglides - Shoot down a very steep 72 feet drop on a toboggan
  • Gulf Scream - A 210 feet body slide
  • Key West Rapid's - Slide down over 700 feet of twist's and turn's (with the odd surprise along the way)
  • Runaway Rapid's - Choose from 1 of 5 very different flume's
  • Wahoo Run - Up to five people in one raft twist through over 600 feet of wide flume
  • Water Moccasin - Choose your tube carefully here as you just don't know what's up ahead

Adventure Island is, as the name suggest's -an adventure. Many of the ride's produce exciting surprise's and thrill's that you maybe weren't expecting.

You'll also find an 11 court volleyball area which has hosted many a professional tournament in the past.

For younger children there's Fabian's Fun Port where kid's can enjoy their very own mini wave pool. They'll love the fun to be had on the Jungle Gym where climbing is the name of the game here.

There is a lot of water park's in Florida but we believe that Adventure Island is different in many way's. Apart from being the only one in Tampa it does have a relaxed and homely feel to it.

If your down near Tampa it's well worth a visit.
